Robert Saleh Explains Why Jets Are Breaking Offseason Tradition

June 9, 2023

The New York Jets will not have their typical joint practice with the New York Giants this offseason.

On Friday, head coach Robert Saleh explained why.

The two franchises have agreed to forgo the practice due to the fact that they play each other during the 2023 regular season (Week 8).

"With the Giants, I've already talked with [Brian] Daboll and we're going to bypass this year," Saleh explained. "We'll reconvene next year."

While they won't have a joint practice with the Giants this year,

the Jets still plan to have their joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers.

The New York squad will have preseason games against both the Bucs and Panthers before closing out their preseason schedule against the Giants on August 26.

The Jets will kickoff their preseason schedule with a 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game matchup against the Cleveland Browns on August 3.
