What are page views of a website?

Whenever a user visits a web page, it is called a page view.

The more page views a website has, the more traffic it receives.

Multiple page views can be created by the same user, that too on the same website.

Page views are often considered as website hits which is not correct.

Although people often use the term "hit" to describe a page view, technically a hit is recorded for each item that loads during a page view.

For example, if a web page contains HTML, two images, and a JavaScript reference, one pageview records four hits.

On the other hand, if three hundred images are present in a page, then one page view will record more than three hundred hits.
